coloma
Coloma is a rum brand that carries a story of family, passion and determination to overcome obstacles. Its roots date back to 1959, when Alberto Constain Medina acquired the family residence in Fusagasugá, Colombia. It was also the birthplace of the Coloma brand, originally known for its premium coffee liqueur, which has become a national icon. Don Alberto, however, dreamed of something bigger, his own rum. Although he was prevented from doing so by legislation for a long time, his dream did not disappear. Years later, he was succeeded by his son, Alberto Constain Cenzano, who carried on the family legacy with the same passion and vision.
Coloma rums are distilled from the fresh juice of two varieties of sugar cane and aged exclusively in Colombia in American oak barrels. Their uniqueness also lies in their specific finish: all Coloma rums are aged in barrels that previously contained the brand's iconic coffee liqueur. This gives them an unmistakable and recognisable flavour profile with subtle notes of coffee, chocolate and caramel. The final character is provided by two maestras roneras, Sandra Reategui and Judith Ramirez, who give Coloma rums their typical elegance and Colombian temperament. In every bottle of Coloma, the taste of patience, respect for the craft and family pride meet.
