Mars is a Japanese whisky brand under the Hombo Shuzo company, whose history dates back to 1872. Whisky production began in 1949 and today the brand operates two separate distilleries - Shinshu in the mountains of Nagano and Tsunuki in southern Japan - along with an aging warehouse on Yakushima Island. Thanks to these different climatic conditions, Mars has the opportunity to create whiskies with very different characters, ranging from clean and rich notes to deep and energetic profiles.
Mars Whisky is known for its combination of traditional Japanese techniques and bold innovation. The brand offers a broad portfolio of single malt and blended whiskies, with Cosmo, Kasei, Komagatake and Tsunuki among its best-known products. The emphasis on craftsmanship, limited editions and quality in every detail make it one of the most respected producers on the Japanese whisky scene. In 2013, Mars was awarded the title of World's Best Blended Malt Whisky at the WWA competition, which only confirms its expert mastery of blending and maturation.
